Prostate Examination Simulator

The torso includes four separate prostate glands, representing one benign gland and three stages of prostatic carcinoma in varying degrees of development. Insert each gland into the prostate torso to allow realistic practice in diagnosis by rectal palpation.

STAGE A GLAND – Benign, slightly enlarged, but otherwise normal prostate gland.
STAGE B GLAND – A discrete, hard nodule is palpable in the upper right quadrant. This simulates the beginning stage of carcinoma.
STAGE C GLAND –  The small nodule has increased in size and has become an external hard mass on the surface of the gland.
STAGE D GLAND – Totally replaced with carcinoma. The entire gland will feel hard and irregular.

The various glands supplied with this simulator are larger than normal or diseased prostate glands. These glands, when inserted into the pelvic cavity, are intended only to demonstrate the tactile qualities of prostatic carcinoma. They are not the shape or size of a prostate gland removed from the pelvic cavity.
